Concerned About American Apparel? We’re Here To Help

With American Apparel’s bankruptcy and Gildan’s recent purchase of the brand and assets, the future of American Apparel is not for certain. All the public really knows is that Gildan purchased the name, inventory and some equipment. Employees have been laid off, production has stopped and retail stores are closing by the end of April. This can be a cause for alarm for some brands that typically use the brand’s garments, but do not fear! We’re here to help! From American Apparel stock levels to alternative garments, we’ve got you covered.

Stock Levels

While Gildan hasn’t announced exactly what American Apparel styles they’ll continue to produce, there is still blank stock available for printing needs. If there is a certain garment you wish to order, just give us a call and we can check on the stock levels of it. Keep in mind that each size and color will have its own stock level.

American Apparel Alternatives

We’ve taken our top 4 American Apparel best sellers and found what we believe to be some pretty solid alternatives with Next Level.

American Apparel 2001: We recommend the Next Level 3600. Both garments are 100% combed ring-spun cotton with the heathered options being a blend of 90% cotton and 10% polyester.

American Apparel BB401: Next Level CVC Crew 6210 is a great alternative. A 60% cotton, 40% polyester blend, this comfy tee has a heather option in the Next Level 6200.

American Apparel TR401: Next Level 6010, a tri-blend crew, is a 50/25/25 cotton, polyester and rayon blend. If you’re looking for a wider range of colors, check out the Canvas 3413.

American Apparel 2102: This ladies tee is super comparable to the Next Level Perfect Tee 3300L. Both are 100% combed ring-spun cotton with very similar color options. Next Level’s Boyfriend Tee 3900 is also 100% cotton but is longer in body length if you want a similar blend with a different fit.

We suggest Onno or Alternative Apparel if eco-friendly apparel is a priority.

Made In America

Royal Apparel offers some seriously comfy garments made right here in the USA. Bella + Canvas also has made-in-the-USA options.
