At Jakprints, we’re proud of our environmental stewardship and green printing initiatives. Every one is busy with life and work, the gals at Vegan Sweet Tooth are no exception. Co-owners Tiffany and Becca have their hands full with starting a new business, shopping for organic ingredients and creating new, tasty vegan recipes. Long time friends, they both fulfilled their dreams by working in the food industry, one as a food photographer and the other at culinary school. They stayed in touch during their time away but eventually reunited in Cleveland with a vegan vision.

Combining their love of food and healthy living, Vegan Sweet Tooth was proofed. We were thrilled when they came to our shop, not only for the great print projects but for the introduction to some of the best vegan cupcakes around. And, he’s as well known for his genre-defining illustrations in the music scene as for his politically-charged, fine-art works. Strhess Clothing, Hess’ apparel line, has been consistently fashion forward with its use of lush illustrations and creative print locations long before either was standard.

Working with Derek for over 6 years has kept us on our toes and fostered the creation of new products. When he came to us with his long overdue book, Black Line White Lie, we were stoked and ready to dive in.

Hess decided on a combination of three different book bindings and we thought that this would be a great opportunity to show a behind-the-scenes look at the artist, the process and the final product.

It’s hard to top ourselves but we found a way with Vegan Sweet Tooth: Create Yours Now™ Cupcake Packs! We put together custom packages with cupcakes, frosting and sprinkles. Included were hand-signed thank you cards from the client’s Account Rep.

The National Association of Music Merchants — better known as NAMM – is a nonprofit organization that unifies the music product industry. They’re able to work with everyone from international heavy hitters like ESP to your local mom-and-pop guitar shop up the road. Their conventions are filled with everything new and exciting in the industry, it’s the CES of the music world, and The NAMM 2012 Show was no different.

More than 100,000 music industry veterans descended on Anaheim, CA last weekend for the largest music retailer convention in the world. Music legends such as Slash, Tommy Lee, Alice Cooper, David Crosby, Stephen Adler and Bootsy Collins were onsite for demos.

With more than 1500 showcasing vendors, it was a circus. Our favorites were Orange Amps with their – well – orange amps, Vic Firth with their super fine drum sticks and slick booth displays, Taylor Guitars, and Pearl Drums. While we were exhausted after visiting the multiple levels and display halls, we still had enough energy to stop and play some steel drums, a couple guitars and even a set of hand-bells.

We had a such a great time at The NAMM 2012 Show it’s hard to pick our favorite part… Ok, it was hanging out with rock stars. Optimism filled the air as the show wound down, but the buzz has begun for The Summer NAMM 2012 show in Nashville, TN, hope to see you there!

CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2012, aka Gadget Country, features every new electronic device you can imagine. We had a blast talking with the realistic, life-sized robots. Celebrities, like Justin Bieber, Tom Hanks, Jillian Michaels and – everybody’s favorite tech guru — Snooki, flocked to the event to help launch and promote products. One of the coolest products we saw was Sphero, a ball that you control with your iPhone or Android, a combination of real life and gaming all in one. The air was energetic as tech bloggers, media personalities and taste makers clamored to get a hands-on experience with all of this year’s newest gadgets.

The automotive world had a huge presence: electric cars with iPad sound systems and trunk-mounted flat screen TVs while Mercedes, Audi, Ford and Kia were showing off their latest concept cars. ESPN featured a live boxing match that streamed to their website. Our favorite, however, was Samsung’s movie-theater-sized 3D screen — it was so realistic we were dodging soccer balls during the demo.

When CES closed their doors, it was time for the after parties! Both Ludacris (Haze Party) and Dr. Dre (Monster Party) represented their headphone lines — the craziest was Will.i.am DJing at Haze, literally thousands of fans tried to get in. Afterward, we swung by a few small, private parties where we got to meet legendary producers Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson, Prince, Earth Wind and Fire).

The Las Vegas Convention Center was filled with thousands of product booths, keynote speakers and panels during CES. It was a real-life playground for adults to come, discover and play with all the new and upcoming products!

“You would never think an absolute, right-brained graphic designer to discover their career led them into the world of accounting,” exclaims Vital Visual owner Dede Vitrano. “Yet, some how, it’s the perfect match.” BBP Partners is, an up-and-coming public accounting and consulting firm with offices in Cleveland, OH, and Washington, D.C.

Vitrano met with Chris Brauser, an original partner at BBP,  to change the way the firm markets and associates with the industry and their clients. BBP was unhappy with the results of traditional marketing, the duo of Vitrano and Brauser developed a new strategy with a strong focus on personalized, mailers with lots of personality. ”It’s a new partnership that has already shaken things up and created a wave with their clients,” says Vitrano.

Vegan Sweet Tooth is a specialty sweet shop providing completely vegan and Kosher desserts. Since starting as a Boxer in Full Color Finishing four years ago, Nick LaRich has been moving and shaking his way through the JP ranks. Currently, LaRich ensures your custom, full color orders look great and are on schedule as our Job Controller. He’s a flurry of energy, often seen running from department to department, iPad in hand; his upbeat, vociferous personality and positive attitude have won him accolades from fellow JPers.

What would you do if you had a million dollars? I would lease a new car every 6 months, buy a new house and invest the rest.

If you could travel to one place in the world – where and why? Italy. I’m Italian and I would love to see where my ancestors are from and be able to eat authentic Italian food.

Why do you choose to work at Jakprints? You can be yourself without worrying that anybody will judge you and I love the people I work with.

What are some interesting projects you’ve been a part of? We have great customers with great ideas. I have been part of many interesting projects, some are from customers and some are for our own marketing.

What are your favorite aspects of what you do at Jakprints? I like that I am able to help or assist others on a daily basis. I also enjoy seeing so many different awesome ideas come to life. I could honestly say that I enjoy working at Jakprints far more than any other job I have ever had.
