Event Wrap Up: LKWD Music Fest 2013

This post was published and formated for an old version of the blog.

Jakprints_Mahalls_Lakewood_Music_Fest_2013 OK, we know it took us a while to post this, but some of us are still recovering from last week’s fun. Mahall’s presented its second-annual LKWD Music Fest, launched with a desire for a summer block party combining music, food and friends in the heart of Lakewood, OH. In addition to simply being a blast — because it was — proceeds from the outdoor beer sales benefitted The Poultry Project, a nonprofit focused on providing self-sustaining agriculture opportunities for AIDS orphans in Uganda. With more than 1,000 people attending this year’s LKWD Music Fest, this was (by far) the best block party we’ve ever attended. Continue Reading…

Employee Spotlight – Michael “Mikey” Baranick

This post was published and formated for an old version of the blog.

Jakprints employees are the BEST you can get! They’re hard working, dedicated and have mad skills, both on and off the clock. This month’s Jakprints Employee Spotlight features Mikey Baranick! For almost 6 years, Mikey has worked as the Shipping Manager in our Apparel department. If you’ve ordered apparel and had it shipped, Mikey’s to thank for it’s safe arrival!

We sat down with Mikey for a quick Q&A session. Keep on scrollin’ down to learn what his bands are up to, find out who he’d like to have dinner with, and which super power he’d possess if given the opportunity!

What did you do before Jakprints?  I worked at the CD Game Exchange, was a security guard, along with a ton of other jobs.

Describe what you do at Jakprints. What’s your typical day?  The first half of the day is mainly spent running all over both Jakprints buildings, managing the high volume of receiving, outgoing recycling, deliveries and customer pick up orders.  The second half is shipping out finished products, running international and freight shipment quotes, solving any problems that may arise through our various carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc). Oh…and then more running (haha.) Most days ya get a workout.

Ja’Ovvoni Garrison R.T.A (Renegade Transit Authority)

This post was published and formated for an old version of the blog.

Last week, I hung out in the Skate Kitchen with Ja’Ovvoni Garrison and chatted about his new Cleveland skateboard and clothing brand, R.T.A.

Growing up in East Cleveland, there weren’t any skaters in Ja’Ovvoni’s neighborhood. Most of the kids played basketball or video games. Eleven years ago, he received a demo copy of a Tony Hawk video game from his local Pizza Hut. After playing the game, he decided to give skateboarding a try and quickly fell in love with the sport.  He spent most of  his time skating solo around his neighborhood until hearing about the downtown skatepark  left behind by the Gravity Games organizers in 2003.

Jakprints Customer Spotlight – Casie Baun

This post was published and formated for an old version of the blog.

I’m pretty certain that if I were Casie Baun’s agent, she’d have the gig as the official spokesperson for an energy drink! It’s inconceivable to me how she does it all. She acts, she models, she writes, she manages a website, she contributes to a variety of musical projects and still finds time to hop around the country working horror movie, comic and sci-fi conventions.  (This blogger needed a nap after simply listening to her upcoming schedule.) Our beloved Lil BUB hits the big screen!

The world is absolutely crazy for cats and the Jakprints crew is no exception. Around this time last year, Jakprints staffers were clawing though a pile of customer samples and everyone “pawsed” (Sorry, I couldn’t resist) when they found a sticker of the cutest darn cat they’d ever laid their eyes on! At the time, they had no idea the ‘perma-kitten’ that warmed their hearts was Lil BUB … and she would become the object of affection… of millions on the internet.

Since then, we’ve been following Lil BUB’s adventures online and regularly posting photos of the posters, stickers and postcards that Jakprints produces for the BUBSTORE.

As I type this blog, Lil BUB is chillin’ in New York at the world premier of her new film, Lil Bub & Friendz at the Tribeca Film Festival. I checked in last week with Lil BUB’s owner, Mike Bridavsky to chat about BUB and see how she’s handling life in the spotlight.
